Purpose

Madison stated in Federalist No. 51, 鈥淛ustice is the end of government. It is the end of civil society. It ever has been and ever will be pursued until it be obtained, or until liberty be lost in the pursuit.鈥 The Darl H. Champion Center for Excellence in Justice Administration (CEJA) exists to serve those professions sworn to pursue justice.

Mission

The Darl H. Champion Center for Excellence in Justice Administration (CEJA) develops and provides non-credit development experiences for justice professionals in North Carolina and contiguous states. The Center is financed through tuition charged for major courses and provides less extensive experiences at no cost to students.

  1. To deliver unique and relevant leader development experiences for justice professionals.
  2. To deliver unique and relevant professional development experiences for justice professionals.

Objectives

Conduct theWest Point Leadership Program(WPLP) for justice professionals. This program is modeled on the third year Military Leadership course taken by all cadets at the United States Military Academy.

ConductLeader Terrain Walkson Revolutionary War battlefields in and near North Carolina. Terrain walks combine a review of historical battlefield events and relating those events to present day leader challenges as well as the touchstone of the foundation and principles of American liberty.

Improve the investigative abilities of justice professionals through 蜜聊直播鈥檚 unique Forensic Science program and its unique relationships withcold case homicideexperts.

West Point Leadership Program (WPLP)

蜜聊直播 is proud to announce Session XXXVIII of the听West Point Leadership Program (WPLP).

The WPLP course purpose is:听 To inspire police leaders to develop an informed, systematic, and dynamic approach to leading in police organizations.听The WPLP is an adaptation of the third-year course PL300, Military Leadership completed by all cadets at the U. S. Military Academy at West Point, New York.

The course examines and integrates leadership in organizations from four perspectives: the individual, the group, the leader, and the organization.听 Session XXXVIII will be co-hosted with the Durham, North Carolina Police Department.听 The course consists of 15 class days (on each Tuesday) and 3 online examinations.听 In order to accommodate demand the course will be split into a morning (0800-1200) and afternoon session (1300-1700). One class day will incorporate a Leader Terrain Walk at the Guilford Courthouse Revolutionary War battlefield.听 Students will participate in assessments of their followership style, interpersonal skills as a leader or officer in a community policing environment, and organizational characteristics of greatness.听 The registration cost for the course is $750 per student.听 Students will receive an invoice when the class begins, so it is not necessary to process payment before the class begins.听 All course materials will be provided in digital format and are supplemented by a course web site and online video lectures.
